Design Engineer
Responsible for the planning, design, construction and use of equipment within aircraft cabin interiors, with the focus being in commercial aircraft galley systems. The selected candidate will serve a role as an individual contributor supporting a global interior galley project involving multiple cross-functional teams, focusing on delivery of local program work packages, within prescribed time frame from initiation through delivery. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations .Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the functional team lead
The role will involve travel as and when necessary up to 10 - 20%
The design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components, within a commercial galley system, in order to meet the program requirements
Managing and meeting cost and weight targets
Communicating effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers, translating technical information (Airbus, Boeing, Sukhoi and other Commercial airlines)
Participating in design reviews throughout each phase of the new product introduction process
The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
Ensuring the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole
Following and contributing to the development of the best practice guidelines as laid out in quality documentation
Checking engineering packages
Generating and/or revising specifications
Participating in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
Compiling compliance matrix to customer specification requirements
Guiding, mentoring and advising other design engineering staff
Assisting in producing engineering quotes to specifications or customer repair demand
Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.
Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
Provides technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.
Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor''s degree in Engineering from four-year college or university; and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum three years experience in the aerospace industry
A good knowledge and demonstrated application of Catia V5
A good knowledge and demonstrated application of Team Center or other similar PDM software
Effective oral and written communication skills
Good team working skills
The ability to work with a low level of supervision and intervention
Sufficient engineering capability and experience to create effective engineered solutions based on interior design experience of commercial aircraft galleys, crew rests and other related monuments
MS Word, Excel and Outlook
A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture to be employed such as: Machining, Casting, Vacuum forming, Injection molding, Composite materials, Trim and finish
A good understanding of manufacturing capabilities and limitations, methods of assembly employed by operations, material selection, protective treatments and best practices for the integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
Previous experience with effective application of tolerances and G D & T
