Position Purpose
To assist Financial Advisors in managing and organizing office work flow at an expert level. This position will consistently follow high standards of business and professional ethics when dealing with others and/or performing work activities. Required to follow legal and regulatory requirements and company policies in dealing with others and/or performing work activities. May perform defined functions under each of the six key advisor tasks. Full licensing is not necessary upon hire but will be required (Series 7, 66, and State Life/Health). Training and testing will be provided by Ameriprise. Training and assistance may also be provided for achieving the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation.

Responsibilities Financial Planning Assistance
Case Analysis
enter data using applicable software into computer
examine data, inventories or initial schedules for accuracy and completeness
review and interpret financial statements
perform numerical calculations
prepare preliminary financial planning recommendations and data entry for all financial planning tools and calculator engine:
- review and edit them for organization
run hypothetical illustrations
prepare charts, graphs, tables and other visual aids to be used in implementation meetings with clients
utilize and understand unique tools and processes
prepare additional materials for client meetings as assigned by Advisor
Implementation
maintain contact during the financial planning process
review and update client information as needed for client review meetings
attend and participate in client meetings as necessary
NO soliciting in appointments
Client Service (only if related to plan implementation)
Execute trades
manage and resolve client service problems

The following transactions must be conducted with the advisor s documented directions: loans (insurance and certificates), redemption/surrenders (mutual funds, annuities, certificates, insurance, brokered funds), withdrawals (annuities), exchanges (mutual funds, certificates, brokered funds) and buy/sell trades.
answer questions and provide readily available information to clients, if requested, as it relates to servicing their accounts.
set up and maintain client management system
write notes or letters to clients on personal letterhead of administrative nature only and handle client appreciation
able to utilize and understand unique tools and processes
Administrative/Practice Management
review work methods and procedures for possible quality improvements and efficiencies; implement them when appropriate
assign and delegate work and provide feedback, when appropriate, to other planning support staff
plan and prioritize own work schedule
use to-do lists, calendars, computer software or other work/time management systems
perform other allowable duties as assigned
act as a technical resource provide training and support to other paraplanners and planning assistants
complete miscellaneous projects in a timely manner as assigned by Advisor

To be a Paraplanner, you will need to already have or be willing to study for and pass exams for federal and state licenses and registrations for securities - including:
Series 7
Series 66
State life, accident and health insurance licenses

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
