Summary:
To assure surfaces of aircraft are smooth and prepared for primer and finish paint application; applyfinishes to a variety of parts, assemblies and/or completed aircraft.
Completions Painter B may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of CompletionsPainter C.
Job
Responsibilities:
oPerforms surface preparation of aircraft prior to painting.
Marks areas to be filled.
Mixes hardenerand filler.
Applies hardener and filler to unfinished areas needing smoothing and contouring.
oSpray primer, paint filler and protective paint on prepared surfaces.
oPrepares plastic or fiberglass parts of aircraft using filler to provide uniform surface for paintadhesion.
Uses painting equipment including brushes and spray guns to perform minor rework,touchup, priming, finish painting of partial aircraft when not otherwise engaged in paintpreparation duties.
oRefurbishment aircraft - applies chemical paint removers.
oRoughs and finishes aircraft parts using various types of sandpaper and hand sanding machinesto provide surface for paint adhesion and smooth appearance.
oWorks from oral and written instructions and established procedures.
oPrepares painted surfaces.
Spray primers or various paint finishes to parts, assemblies, orcompleted aircraft.
Uses some judgment in obtaining desired finish.
May work under the guidanceand instruction of Completions Painter A and CL-Completions Painter A.
oProfessionally applies paint to surface maintaining finish requirements acceptable to shopsupervision and quality control.
oResponsible for the quality of own work.
oOther duties - applying alodine, washing aircraft or sealing a variety of components.

Education:
Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification tointerpret simple drawings, apply basic math and use some measuring instruments.
Requires ability toread, write and follow instructions.
Experience:
Requires a combination of over one year experience in paint preparation and aircraft spray painting or equivalent experience.
