Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Production Engineer for its Wichita, KS facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for support of daily production at the Wichita facility. The Production Engineer will apply equipment and process knowledge and interact closely with Operations personnel to resolve issues and implement improvements.
Primary responsibilities of the position include:
1. Driving in-process data collection efforts, including batch parameters, cycle time and quality data. Identify issues and work with other members of the production department to resolve those issues.
2. Improve productivity, quality, cost, reliability and capacity in the manufacturing process.
3. Lead small projects in the production department.
4. Involvement in the Continuous Improvement activities on the sites.
5. Provide support for the site's environmental, health and safety activities.
Skills/Abilities:
Process trouble shooting
Process hazard analysis (PHA)
Continuous improvement (Lean) tools
Direct customer interaction is expected.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs
Minimum
Qualifications:
- BS in Chemical Engineering
- 5 years experience in chemicals business, preferably batch chemical processing
Beneficial experience/skills:
- Able to work in a hands-on environment in an operating plant
- Able to work in groups, interacting with plant operators, maintenance, engineers, plant supervision and management
- Experience in troubleshooting operating issues
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
