The Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for the Primary Care Service is the senior leader with responsibilities for the overall performance of the Primary Care unit, including resource management of budget and positions. The Incumbent is a key member of the clinical leadership team and reports directly to the Chief of Staff. Responsible for the direct management and oversight of clinical and administrative operations within the Primary Care Service. These duties include all clinical performance measures. This position works with the Associate Chief Nurse and Administrative Officer closely to ensure optimization of resources in the care delivery model. Additionally, participation in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings or committees are necessary as assigned. Excellent communication skills are considered a critical competency. Expected to facilitate communication between departments and will be the primary conduit of information to the Service. Performance of direct clinical care a minimum of 12-24 hours per week as determined by the Chief of Staff and in order to maintain clinical expertise in the field. Requires the ability to challenge systems and processes to improve access to care and the care delivery process coupled with the ability to think and act creatively and innovatively. Promotes effective coordination and support of clinical care by evaluating current and potential patient needs, clinical workload and resources, and special programs/mandates. Monitors and evaluates the quality of medical services as an integral part of the overall quality assessments and improvement program and assuring compliance with The Joint Commission. Promotes and evaluates standards of clinical competence and conduct for staff which are maintained through compliance with the credentialing and privileging processes, monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice, peer review, and other appropriate quality assurance activities. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Current VA Experience as A VA Primary Care Service Chief, Internal Medicine Board Certification Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health. This position requires:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
