The duties and responsibilities of the Emergency Care Service Chief include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Chief of the Emergency Department will supervise and evaluate the performance of Physicians assigned to the Emergency Department. Oversight of Process Improvement/Quality Assurance/Utilization Review projects and other administrative duties as assigned. Work in close conjunction with other service line leadership to improve patient care and other process improvement activities. The successful candidate will be innovative, possess exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, and have a strong commitment to organizational stewardship to lead the ED in improving performance and increasing efficiencies. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Board certified in Emergency Medicine, Emergency training from an ABEM/ABOEM Accredited residency training program, at least 5 years of recent experience in a Medical Center Emergency Department setting, previous supervisory/leadership position assignments Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include moderate lifting (15-44 lbs.); light lifting (under 15 lbs.) light carrying (under 15 lbs.); reaching above shoulders; use of fingers, both hands required; walking (1 hour intermittently); standing (2 hours intermittently); ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of color; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable to 13 to16; hearing (aid permitted). Candidate selected will be required to complete a pre-employment physical.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
