We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager for our Wichita location.
The Engineering Manager's primary responsibility will be to lead Engineering team in design, development and test of a modified specialized aircraft modification project. This position will align functionally with division engineering leadership and will work closely with corporate engineering leadership to secure resources to ensure schedule, budget and quality are ensured. Position will report directly to the Director of Specialized Aircraft Engineering. Individual must be able to influence and have experience working in a matrix environment. Position will have a limited number of direct reports but have significant support via matrixed reports.
In your role, you will:
Lead and direct experienced multi-discipline engineering professionals in the design, certification, and test of missionized aircraft.
Work closely with customer and suppliers to align engineering deliverables and schedules to meet overall program schedules
Ensure that engineering personnel execute the project to meet contractual specifications for design/manufacturing, performance and testing is accurate, timely, cost-effective, and in compliance with specifications.
Strong knowledge of Design through Manufacturing and test.
Strong knowledge and familiarity using regulatory requirements.
Work with Program office to manage change and ensure execution of Engineering deliverables are aligned with business and contractual requirements.
Estimate and staff project via matrixed functional organizations.
Ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of all engineered products.
Exercise complete understanding of the engineering process from requirements decomposition through verification and validation.
Qualifications
As our ideal candidate,
You have a B.S. in Engineering or technical curriculum plus a minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, development, qualification, or oversight of products and/or programs and 5 years of experience in managing people or programs
You have knowledge of Government Contracts and DoD experience
You can do some domestic and foreign travel if required
You have experience with compliance to Civil Regulatory and military certification
You have strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required
You can demonstrate teamwork with internal and external customers
You have an understanding of working through customer requirements to technical requirements to product solutions
You have an understanding of Functional and Allocated baselines in addition to Top-Level and Detailed Level Design approaches
You must be able to obtain and maintain ITAR clearance
You have experience with design, test, and certification of clean sheet product development activities (highly preferred)
You have experience in engineering management of sub-tier suppliers and integration of those suppliers into the design process (preferred)
You have risk Management knowledge (preferred)
You have influence skills in a matrix environment (preferred)
