Wichita, KS USAJob DescriptionThis internship is located within the Anti-Human Trafficking Program, the Lighthouse Project.
The Lighthouse Project provides comprehensive case management services to victims and survivors of both sex and labor trafficking, and seeks to increase the capacity of the community to work with and identify trafficking survivors through direct and agency-related outreach, awareness raising events and training opportunities.
The Community Training Intern will work in the community to encourage awareness raising and provide training on a number of human trafficking-related topics.
Activities Identify social service agencies, community groups and individuals in Wichita and its surrounding areas who would benefit from training on human trafficking, its signs, indicators, and other related topics; Contact each of these agencies and extend the offer of free training, with the option of online or in-person; Maintain this contact in a central database to indicate who has been contacted and when, and if training has been scheduled and/or delivered; Develop and deliver training modules on a range of human trafficking-related topics that will fit a wide range of audiences; Develop and deliver an online 6-month Lunch & Learn community awareness raising curriculum; Create feedback mechanisms for trainings provided and keep an updated database of trainings delivered and attendance at each; Provide administrative support as needed and maintain contact databases; Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and special staff development programs.
Time CommitmentFor the sake of stability and continuity, the IRC asks for a minimum commitment of 3 months, with at least 6 hours per week.
TrainingIn-depth training will be provided for interns to understand the various needs of clients accessing services.
A high-level of confidentiality is required when working with IRC clients.
Qualifications Must be enrolled in an internship program through a higher education institution Effective communication and writing skills with a strong attention to detail Creativity and initiative to follow through on projects A strong desire to help people and enthusiasm to work in a multi-cultural setting Prior experience in a non-profit setting a plus Prior relevant coursework preferred Possess personal vehicle and valid driver's license.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
